Size Guide
Whether you're a piercing pro or just starting out, getting the right size matters — for comfort, safety, and style. Here’s a quick guide to understanding jewellery gauge and length so you can find your perfect fit.
📏 What is Gauge?
Gauge (G) refers to the thickness of the jewellery bar or post. It’s a standard measurement used across all body jewellery.
🔄 The smaller the gauge number, the thicker the jewellery.
| Millimetres (mm) | Gauge (G) | Common Uses |
|---|---|---|
| 0.8mm | 20G | Thin nose studs, earrings |
| 1.0mm | 18G | Nose rings, studs, lobe piercings |
| 1.2mm | 16G | Cartilage (helix, tragus), septum, daith, rook, lip, eyebrow |
| 1.6mm | 14G | Belly bars, nipple rings, tongue bars |
| 2.0mm | 12G | Stretching jewellery |
| 3.2mm | 8G | Stretching jewellery |
| 4.0mm | 6G | Stretching jewellery |
| 5.0mm | 4G | Stretching jewellery |
| 6.0mm | 2G | Stretching jewellery |
| 7.0mm | 1G | Stretching jewellery |
| 8.0mm | 0G | Stretching jewellery |
| 10.0mm | 00G | Stretching jewellery |
| 12.0mm | 1/2" | Plugs, tunnels |
| 14.0mm | 9/16" | Plugs, tunnels |
| 16.0mm | 5/8" | Plugs, tunnels |
| 19.0mm | 3/4" | Plugs, tunnels |
| 22.0mm | 7/8" | Plugs, tunnels |
| 25.0mm | 1" | Plugs, tunnels |
📐 Understanding Length
The length of your jewellery is measured as the internal distance between the two ends — whether that's balls, flat backs, or ring sides. It does not include the thickness or size of the ends themselves.
-
For straight bars: Measured between the two threads or ends
-
For curved bars: Measured in a straight line between the ends
-
For rings: Measured across the internal diameter, not the outer edge
This ensures you're getting the most accurate and comfortable fit.
